Read MoreThis bead is FUSED and is consistent from the crust to the core. It lasts longer than a sintered bead but should not be used in sizes above 2.0 mm because of the inherent air inclusions known as hollows in the bead. This bead can crack and break and cause abrasion problems in the mill. Preconditioning the beads is strongly recommended.
Read MoreSchematics of the experimental set-up and protocol. This investigation used either quartz sand (HN 0.6/1.6 from SIFRACO, 99% SiO 2, 1.25–1.6 mm, 215 g) or AISI 420C stainless steel beads (1.6 mm in diameter, 675 g) as grinding media. Their density is 2.6 and 7.7 g cm −3, respectively, against 3.2 g cm −3 for the slag.
Read MoreSurface preparation is the essential first stage treatment of a steel substrate before the application of any coating, and is generally accepted as being the most important factor affecting the total success of a corrosion protection system.. The performance of a coating is significantly influenced by its ability to adhere properly to the substrate material.
Read MoreBeware, new wood may need preparation too. Mill glaze on fresh cedar or newly treated lumber has a tendency to repel stains. Mill glaze is a result of sawing of the wood and actually closes the grains to prevent penetration of the stain. This can be resolved by sanding the wood lightly.
